The Little Britain Series 2 script book shows an image of Bubbles' bill, which totals more than five hundred pages, and states her real name to be Mavis DeVere. This is contradicted by the programme for Little Britain Live stating that her real name is Denise DeVere.
Born in Hull, 1930, Bubbles is a celebrated society beauty, she has been likened to a number of famous men over the years including Omar Sharif, Mohamed Al Fayed and the Honey Monster. She worked as a hand model for many years. Her hands have graced many high profile campaigns over the years from Marigold gloves to Harpic toiler cleaner.
In the 1970's she appeared in a number of the Confessions films with Mick Jagger lookalike Robin Askwith. Titles included Confessions of a Regional Sales Manager, Confessions of an Area Manager of Heating Appliance Repair Outlets in The North West and Confessions of a Man Who Has a Lot of Sex.
When we first meet the character in a series two scene of the Little Britain television series, Bubbles is constantly being badgered by Mr. Hutton, the Hill Grange Health Spa manager in regard to her escalating unpaid bill which eventually amounts to almost twenty thousand pounds. Typically Bubbles begins to strip for Mr. Hutton in an attempt to seduce him in exchange for her debt which he is not receptive to.

In series three we finally meet Bubbles ex-husband Roman, played actor by Rob Brydon. Roman is on his honeymoon with new squeeze, Desiree. The scenes in the third series usually culminate in Bubbles and Desiree fighting naked, much to the enjoyment of svelte Roman.
In more than one Little Britain Bubbles sketch we discover that Bubbles is almost completely bald and wears a wig.
The US TV network that broadcasted Little Britain USA, HBO, described the Bubbles character as "a socialite and one of the most beautiful women in Britain". They also use the spelling of her name Bubbles De Vere rather than Bubbles Devere. In one Little Britain USA Bubbles sketch she attempts to seduce the captain of the cruise ship, similar to Mr Hutton her advances fail.
